In an effort to address sustainable practices, the province of Nova Scotia is implementing new regulations concerning the disposal and recycling of batteries. Effective July 2024, these regulations will govern the end-of-life management of all types of batteries, ensuring that they are responsibly handled to minimize their impact on the environment.

All individuals and businesses in Nova Scotia that use, manage, or dispose of batteries will be required to adhere to these new regulatory standards. These standards are designed to reduce hazardous waste in landfills, prevent soil and water pollution, and support the province’s overall environmental goals.

Please note, to facilitate compliance and effective monitoring, businesses will only need to register through the form below if they are not currently members of Call2Recycle or are not reporting Environmental Handling Fees (EHF) in any other regulated provinces through Call2Recycle already.

Businesses that are current members and are reporting through Greentrax will receive detailed instructions on how they can opt into the Nova Scotia registration through their existing accounts.
